Ginger again

I made another batch of crystallised ginger last week, and saved all the boiling water changes to make syrup.

I ended up with more then two litres of ginger-lemon syrup, of which I use about 20 ml for a cup of hot lemon-ginger drink.
Hopefully this batch of ginger will last longer too. I took the last lot to work and it disappeared in a couple of days.

  1. do you get ginger locally grown in NZ or are they from elsewhere?

  2. It's from Thailand. I know you can grow it in the north of the North Island here, in fact people are a bit careful how they discard ginger scraps because it takes root and grows so easily and it's so invasive. Don't know if it'd grow down here - I might plant some and see what happens.
